A family operation in the Los Angeles produce district.
King Quality Produce is owned and run by the Yeretsian family. We have spent over fifteen years buying, grading and moving fresh produce for the restaurants, markets and distributors of Los Angeles, and we have put money into the farms that grow it.
How we work
Our warehouse at 925 Hooper Ave sits in the heart of the produce district. Trucks from our growers arrive overnight; we grade, cold-store and ship on produce-market hours, six days a week. We are a wholesale operation, not a store: our customers are restaurants, grocery stores and markets, distributors, processors and commissaries.
Being family-owned means the people who answer the phone are the people who buy the product and stand behind it. If a lot is not right, we fix it that day.
Our own growers
We have invested in farms and built long relationships with growers across Mexico, the American Southwest and California, from Ventura County to Indio and the Central Valley around Fresno. That lets us follow the harvest through the year, keep the same items on your order sheet, and know how each lot was grown and handled before it reaches our dock.
Persimmons, pomegranates and table grapes come from orchards and vineyards around Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley, picked and packed by variety as each one comes into season. See the fruit we carry.
Transportation and logistics
Our trucks run overnight from the growing regions in Mexico, the Southwest and California, refrigerated the whole way, so the day's product is on our dock before the market opens. Local customers get it on our own routes within five miles of the warehouse; will-call orders are staged at the dock on market hours.
For everyone else we ship: palletized, cold-chained freight to all 50 states, quoted with the order. Delivery zones and shipping.
Food safety comes first
Handling and storing produce the right way is the core of what we do. Our warehouse team follows written safety standards and protocols for receiving, storage, temperature control and sanitation, so every box leaves in the condition it arrived.
King Quality Produce holds HACCP certification (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), the FDA-recognized system for identifying and controlling hazards from receiving through distribution. We are also a licensed dealer under the USDA Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA license 20201179).
Leaving the land better than we found it
Our produce comes directly from farmers who harvest locally and ethically, and we work with them on practices that reduce the impact of growing: less reliance on harmful inputs, more attention to soil and water, and modern methods where they make a difference.
In the warehouse we run a tight cold chain to cut waste, and product that cannot be sold goes to food recovery partners rather than the dumpster.
Giving back to the communities that feed us
We make regular donations of produce and resources to local organizations, including Food Forward, the San Fernando Valley nonprofit that fights hunger and food waste, and The Lighthouse Mission Church.
